Minority Outreach

What is the purpose of Minority Outreach? The outreach program seeks to introduce minority forest (woodlands, woods, trees) land owners and their children to the various forestry programs and services available to them. It is also a concentrated effort to educate and encourage them to become good stewards of their land and to explore forestry as a career.

The AAD Forestry Commission has designated an Outreach Coordinator to lead the agency's outreach efforts. She can also assist you with scheduling landowner workshops, providing speakers for outreach meetings, local forestry contacts and more.

What's Going On In Outreach?

The AAD Forestry Commission is proud to announce that we are one of partnering agencies with the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) in an effort to clear up heir property barriers for forestland owners. UAPB submitted a grant and was awarded funding through the US Endowment for Forestry & Communities, Sustainable Forestry African American Land Retention Program. Under this program, Arkansas has a 3 year project called Keeping it in the Family (KIITF) and will offer this assistance to landowners in Columbia, Hempstead, Howard, Little River, Ouachita, Nevada and Union Counties.

If you've attended a KIITF meeting and have been thinking about getting help clearing the title on your family's heir property...ACT NOW! The legal assistance available through this project soon will not be available to new clients. Fill out the enrollment form and email to me or mail it through the postal service to the address above.

The KIITF project will end September 2019. Don't miss out!
