Designation of Critical Ground Water Areas

1.  1996 Designation of Sparta Aquifer within Bradley, Calhoun, Columbia, Ouachita, and Union Counties.

2(a).  1998 Designation of Alluvial and Sparta Aquifers within Arkansas, Jefferson, and Prairie Counties, and Parts of Lonoke, Pulaski and White Counties.

2(b).  ANRC's 1998 Order as it applied to Arkansas County was appealed to Arkansas County Circuit Court, Case  CIV 98-39.  After Arkansas  County Circuit Court remanded the Order back to the Commission "for such further actions as it may deem necessary," the Commission issued the following order:  2000 Designation of Alluvial and Sparta Aquifers within Arkansas County.

3(a).  2009 Designation of Mississipi RIver Valley Alluvial Aquifer and Memphis Sand Aquifer within portions of Clay, Craighead, Cross, Greene, Poinsett, St. Francis, and Lee Counties lying west of Crowley's Ridge (Cache Critical Groundwater Area).

3(b).2015 Designation of Mississipi River Valley Alluvial Aquifer and Memphis Sand Aquifer within Phillips County lying west of Crowley's Ridge and Inclusion of Phillips County into the Cache Critical Groundwater Area.

3(c). 2019 Designation of Alluvial Aquifer and Sparta Aquifer within Monroe County and Inclusion of Monroe County into the Cache Critical Groundwater Area.
