Biotechnology Regulatory Services

In order to protect plant health, Biotechnology Regulatory Services (BRS) implements APHIS regulations for certain genetically engineered (GE) organisms that may pose a risk to plant health. APHIS coordinates these responsibilities along with the other designated federal agencies as part of the Federal Coordinated Framework for the Regulation of Biotechnology. The State of Arkansas works in coordination with BRS to inspect on average 5-7 sites yearly within the State. Two inspectors are trained and certified to do these on site inspections.
